Blue Hill House is situated in a quiet residential area of Ambleside, but is just a short walk down to all the facilities of Ambleside, which has plentiful quality restaurants, cinema (Zefferelli's has 5 screens), shops, including small supermarkets (Co-op, Spar and Tesco Express) and banks and grocery stores.
Platts' Park in Amableside has pitch and putt, children's playground and tennis courts.
Nearest theatres; Old Laundry Theatre, Bowness (7 minutes by car), Brewery Arts Centre, Kendal (20 minutes by car), Theatre by the Lake, Keswick (40 minutes by car).

There is easy access to Waterhead, which is at the head of Lake Windermere. There are cruises on the lake to Wray Castle, Far Sawrey, Bowness, Brockhole and Lakeside at the south side of the lake. From Waterhead, you can hire a dinghy, feed the ducks, or enjoy a meal overlooking the lake.

Ambleside is set in the heart of the Lake District and is ideally placed for easy access to the surrounding fells and mountains. It is a bustling market town which caters well for walkers and climbers, but also has many other individual shops, craft shops and galleries to tempt all the visitors. As well as the fells and mountains there are also easier strolls along the shores of Lake Windermere, Rydal Water and paths to Grasmere. From Waterhead Pier, there are boat trips across the lake and back.

The remains of Fort Galava, a roman fort dating back to the 2nd century, can be found in Borrans Field, which is just to the left on the opposite side of the road to the entrance to the driveway to Wansfell apartment.

In central Ambleside you will also see the 17th century Bridge House, one of the smallest houses in Britain and visit the Armitt Museum, which has many Beatrix Potter artefacts.

Ambleside has an abundance of tempting cafes/restaurants and pubs to tempt each and every taste.

It also hosts the cinema complex of Zefferellis, where there are 4 screens showing all the latest movies.
